I find it's always a good exercise to remind myself of previous work and especially details. Details are what make up the bigger part of my pieces, fragmented shapes, colours and a loose cohesion is what makes the story come to life for me... I often don't know what I'm looking for until it emerges out of the fog and then it's as if I knew it all along. All part of the process, with plenty of mistakes, a wrong cut or decision that isn't wrong at all, it leads to the final result. As they say be brave, " Trust the Journey "

Unquestionably my favourite colours of this year, they never fail to lift my spirits and remind me of Spring and freshness. Coming to fruition during the first lockdown period in April meant these pieces coincided with a burst of yellow flowers in my garden, how fortuitous was that!! I realise more and more my work is like a visual diary, capturing the stories and my life each month in the village, ideas, where they came from, influences or just a mood or feeling, so this is a feeling of optimism for today.... another Spring will always come!
For most of this month there has been a subtle feel to the outdoor colour palette. The sky has not been its usual clear, bright blue....so my hands don't reach automatically for those same colours. Its a Seasonal occurance, along with the natural slowing down that I see all around me, but that doesn't last long in this house.....the colours are calling and so are the scissors, so take a last peek at pale but interesting !!! For now.
Ιt can take a long time for a piece of artwork to come to light, timing is everything.
A bag of beautiful geometric materials was gifted to me, at the same time my own coloured linens that I had always imagined as dresses for myself, suddenly began calling... Somewhere between the pulse of the music I was listening to and the vibrant geometric patterns... Nymphes emerged dancing between the two. |
